The Orquestra Contemporâna de Olinda was born of a union of traditional frevo musicians of Grêmio Musical Henrique Dias (founded in 1954) and a younger generation of musicians from Pernambuco, Brazil.
The orquestra has played numerous events in Brazil, along with Lincoln Center in New York City, the Heineken Festival in the UK, the Delta Festival in Portugal, the Transatlantic Festival in Miami, GlobalFest in the U.S., SOB’s in NYC, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and the Barbican Centre in the UK.
They've released a couple of albums, the latest in 2012 and produced by Arto Lindsay, Pra Ficar (To Stay).
