Jean-Michel Pilc is a jazz piano player (born in Paris, now an American citizen), currently on the faculty of NYU Steinhardt and at the New School. He was music director and pianist for Harry Belafonte, and has performed with Roy Haynes, Michael Brecker, Dave Liebman, Jean Toussaint, Rick Margitza, Martial Solal, Michel Portal, Daniel Humair, Marcus Miller, Kenny Garrett, Lenny White, Chris Potter, John Abercrombie, Mingus Dynasty & Big Band, Lew Soloff and Richard Bona.
He has a number of recordings available, and is also the author of "It's About Music: The Art and Heart of Improvisation".
