Andrea Menafra studied classical guitar at the G.Verdi conservatory in Como (Italy), and then began to specialize in the utilization of the electric guitar in the contemporary repertoire. During this period he also attended master classes taught by Joe Pass, Joe Diorio, Hal Crook, and Jerry Bergonzi.
He's played in numerous music festivals: Festival MANCA in Nice, Vanguard Premieres in San Francisco, Ars Musica in Brussels, Musik der Jahrhunderte in Stuttgart, the Biennale in Zagabria, Festival Chopin in Warsaw, RAI Nuova Musica, Festival dei Due Mondi di Spoleto, Festival Milano Musica, Tage fur Neue Musik in Zurich, the Alpine Music Festival in Saas- Fee, and ISCM-Oggimusica, where he played the first performance of works by R. Nova, F. Romitelli, G. Verrando, P. Leroux and L. Francesconi.
