As an oboist and tireless advocate of new music, Alison has premiered new works with ensembles around the world and is in constant pursuit of ways to expand the repertoire for her instrument. She has served as the principal oboist of the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra in South Africa, premiered new chamber and symphonic works at the National Arts Festival (SA), the Unyazi Electronic Music Festival, Lucerne Festival Academy in Switzerland with Pierre Boulez, the Ensemble Modern Festival Akadmie (Austria) and at the International Double Reed Conference.
She has performed with numerous chamber ensembles and can be heard on several labels. In 2009, she was the recipient of the "Investing in Artists" grant from the Center for Cultural Innovation for her extended-range oboe.
