Al Bell rose from disc jockey in Little Rock, Arkansas to become a record producer, record executive, and songwriter. He was co-owner of Stax Records during much of the label's existence and was a driving force behind the success of The Staple Singers, Isaac Hayes, The Emotions, The Dramatics and others. He wrote one of The Staple Singers' biggest hits, I'll Take You There.
After heading Motown Records, and thereafter his own record company Bellmark Records, Al created the Artist Career Development and Entertainment Creation Company, an enterprise devoted to the development of the careers of artists who produce music which doesn't conform to the generic styles of today's current music industry.
