"Where there's misery, there's music!"

Music from the Recôncavo (sugarcane region around the Baía de Todos os Santos) and sertão (backlands) of Bahia, Brazil. The first song's rhythm is "cabila"...straight from candomblé angola, the religion carried with Bantus to Bahia in the 16th century.
